More Information

The champagne Spécial Club 2010 from Pierre Gimonet & Fils is a great champagne. Its terroir is the greatest of the House, and the ultimate vintage. This 100% Chardonnay champagne is elaborated from a precise blend of the oldest vines (more than 40 years old), with a majority of Cramant Grand Cru. In order to give this wine the Pierre Gimonet spirit, there is always a touch of Cuis 1er cru, bringing this freshness note and unavoidable style.

This Champagne offers a great balanced between its various Chardonnay origins, with a lower sugar dosage (5 grs per liter). It perfectly expresses this style: very complex with a great elegance and fineness. This icon-wine of the Côte des Blancs is compelling and unusual in 2010, largely focused on its green elements (balsam, wintergreen) and florals (osmanthus and lilac) and less on its savor—which makes sense from 2010, an incisive but seldom generous year. Yet there is a curious warmth that emerges on the finish here, alongside an intricate minerality. In bud form now, this delicate chiseled wine is a masterpiece of sensual logic, not (yet) of revelry. And it tastes wonderful.

“Intense, resonant old-vine depth.” Peter Liem
“Super delicious ... ” Richard Juhlin

"Light yellow, green tints. Fine nose revealing chalky notes, faint toast and fresh herbs one after the other. Full, lush, refined palate showing lightness and freshness with a successful fusion of sensations that theoretically should be contradictory. Gold standard." - 95/100, Gilbert & Gaillard
