Here at Stephan Welz & Co we understand the disruption to our lives and businesses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In South Africa, unfortunately, the move from level 5 to level 4 lockdown has not provided much mobility for the auction industry in its traditional format.
Fortunately, we have innovation and digital tools on our side and this has provided the means for us to connect and communicate with buyers and sellers alike. With so many people still living in isolation and feeling the financial strain, consignment, and getting valuations on their collections has become a priority. It also has become the main focus of our specialists at Stephan Welz & Co.

Furthermore, we need to maintain good business practice and health and safety protocols in terms of items that have been purchased from previous sales. For the time being, our borders are closed and only essential goods are allowed to be exported. Items purchased by overseas buyers will be stored in our secured and insured facilities until items are allowed to be exported. There will be NO additional costs incurred for storage.
We have made some adjustments to facilitate the most urgent local collections at our premises in Johannesburg and in Cape Town. The procedure for this will be as follows:
This is a new way of conducting our business and our lives and we are all working together to make this new process as seamless as possible. We really appreciate all the support and will be adapting our policies and procedures to insure safe and secure business practices.
Please remain cautious and aware of your health and safety.
We thank you.
