The work of a South African visual artist Leonard Baloyi Is an exploration of numerous scribbles of lines, playfully scribbled his technique is loose. The lines are chaotic, and complex, they are painstakingly intertwined until they resemble his subjects. His work is textural giving out a grass like feel, some people would immediately assume or conclude that he uses rubber bands to achieve his technique. His use of oil paint is distinctive the process involves layering of thick oil paint over thin undertones and scribbling over that paint to create the lines and also to achieve contrasting effects. His images document the lives of everyday people going through complex emotions and internal feelings that they seldom display. The artist currently lives and works in Soweto.
