242 Battery, part of the 61st Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery, served in North Africa during World War II. Specifically, they were involved in the North African Campaign, fighting in battles such as El Alamein, and participated in the advance across North Africa after the Second Battle of El Alamein.
