ABOUT ARTIST
Minenkulu Ngoyi b.1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa, graduated from Artist Proof Studio in 2011 and now practices printmaking at DGI studio in Victoria Yards, Johannesburg. He has been involved in several group exhibitions both locally and internationally with museums, galleries and art fairs such as the Johannesburg Art Gallery, Wits Art Museum, Latitudes Art Fair Luigi Di Sarro to mention a few.
Ngoyi is interested in colonialism, in past wrongs and present socio-political conversations. His work questions, ridicules, challenges and speaks back to these issues. Ngoyi enjoys including words and phrases to express his ideas and to encourage the viewer to think twice about what they see and perceive. He also utilises figures, symbols and icons found in popular media and from historical references.
