A 1943 - "D" COPPER WHEAT PENNY GRADED AS XF 40 BY SANGS

More Information

This extremely rare, mis-struck copper wheat penny was incorrectly minted in copper instead of zinc by the U.S. Mint in 1943.

There were a number of copper pennies minted in error due to planchets being left on the presses from the previous year. This error was at a great cost to the war effort.

These copper pennies, and especially the ones minted with a "d", are extremely rare and valuable.
