Antique Furniture is Environmentally Friendly
April 11, 2011 - Stephan Welz & Company (Pty) Ltd have an interesting and varied selection of antique furniture on their Decorative & Fine Arts Auction to be held on the 19th and 20th April 2011 at their premises in Rosebank.

Press Release - 11 April 2011

                                                      Lot 292                                          Lot 267

Antique furniture not only offers classic style and excellent value for money, but recent research proves that the annual carbon emissions of certain antique pieces can be as little as one sixteenth of their modern equivalent.

Lot 267 is a dainty late Victorian rosewood and inlaid desk, with a pre-auction estimate of R2 500 to R3 000 it will no doubt appeal to collectors who may just be entering the market. Another admirable piece, lot 292, a Dutch walnut bombé bureau from the late 19th century, is not only functional but very handsome (pre-auction estimate of R15 000 to R20 000).

Potential buyers can feel safe in the knowledge that purchasing these antique pieces, which have already had a significant lifespan, will last another 100 years if well cared for and maintained. Not only that , they will be contributing to recycling and reducing their carbon footprint.
