LOT 4

1965 VELOCETTE VENOM THRUXTON

The Thruxton was the final develoment of Velocette's 500cc pushrod single cylinder motor dating back to the 1930s. By the late 1950s, the line had reached its final expression with a 350cc Viper and this 500cc Venom. It produced almost 46bhp at 7 000 rpm and set the 24 hour speed record at 100mph. In 1967, the inaugural Isle of Man was dominated by Thruxtons which finished first and second. Only 1200 were built and this example is in unrestored original condition awaiting the enthusiastic and perhaps competitive hands of a new owner. 4 650 miles on the odometer, registered and licensed.

R120 000 - R130 000

LOT 12

Carburettors are Weber DLO 42s, brakes are Lockheed Formula Atlantic. Full equipment list is available.

R110 000 - R120 000

LOT 14

1955 VINCENT BLACK SHADOW

In its day, this mighty 998cc 50 degree V-twin was the most sophisticated machine available and today it still represents the pinnacle of the era's standard production output. This particular example, from 1955 when production was to cease, won "Best Vincent" at the SA 1000 Bike Show of 2002 and had been subject to a complete restoration by Ivor Gibson. The motor was rebuilt by Maughn & Sons. According to available research, only 145 D Series Black Shadows were built, which will contribute to the remarkable growth in value evidenced in Europe in recent years.

R450 000 - R550 000

LOT 30

1929 NORTON BIG 4

Whilst probably not destined for a track racing future, this remarkable piece of two wheel history has already distinguished iself (and its rider) on many a DJ Run. (The rally box shown in the picture is not included in the sale). The Big Four is named after its output (4 HP) rather than its configuration. This 1929 model uses the longer version of Norton's famous cradle frame and also the slightly domed saddle tank. This example is pristine, SAVVA dated and registered and licensed.

LOT 43

1965 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA Ti HISTORIC RACING CAR

A thoroughly aggressive and competitive saloon car in its day, now a powerful entry in pre-1966 Historic Events and the Alfa Tropheo Series. With a fully race prepared 140bhp 2 litre motor, it's a serious contender. Registered and licensed.

R100 000 - R110 000

LOT 44

ALFA ROMEO GTV GTA REPLICA

In 1965, Autodelta made some 500 GTAs to meet the homologation requirements of the Europen Touring Championship, employing the 1300cc motor in the process. It appears that only 35 were pure racing vehicles, the balance being desitined for impressive street use. The few genuine documented GTAs that hit the resale market overseas would command  attention at around the R350 000 mark. And here is a GTA replica that looks the part and sounds even better with its 165bhp 2 litre motor, ready for anything Historic. A remarkable road and track consideration, registered and licensed.

R130 000 - R150 000
