The circa 1980’s gold-plated musical alarm pocket watch, by Reuge, has a pre-auction estimate of R18 000 - R22 000 (lot 846). The open faced dial is painted with a country landscape and has a gentleman on horseback releasing a hawk and a lady pumping water for the horse to drink. In the foreground of this charming country scene are two dogs and a basket. When the melody “Oh What A Beautiful Morning” plays, the horse’s head moves up and down whilst the lady pumps the water and the gentleman moves his arm up and down to release the hawk. The pocket watch also has an easel stand for display.
